精神の＜北＞へ Spirit of “North” -かすかな共振をとらえて- の企画で西会津町に滞在したスウェーデン人ダンサー、アマンダ・ビルバリが西会津町内の森の中で撮影したパフォーマンス映像。東京都美術館で6月9日〜18日まで公開されるその映像を、西会津国際芸術村でも公開します。

作品コンセプト
『FALLING FOREST』
FALLIGN FORESTは、 森を神話的でスピリチュアルな劇場と捉え、自然へのロマン主義的・森への神秘主義的な旅の遍歴として記録したパフォーマンス映像作品です。感覚、触覚を研ぎ澄ませ、自然や植物の中に埋もれていく様を強調しています。儀式的な動きは、時間と空間の間にあるものの関係性や、現代社会の新自由主義の力の表現を試みてています。必然性によって昔からの慣習や知恵が忘れ去られ、重要でなくなってしまった時、再定義が必要です。変動と虚無の中で一人の人間が己に気づいた時、何によって対処すればよいのだろうか。この映像作品は、西会津町の大山祇神社と弥生集落で撮影したものである。

The video-work FALLING IN FOREST is approaching the forest as a mythological and spiritual arena and can be regarded as an odyssey through nature romanticism and forest mysticism. Sensing, feeling and perceiving with an urge to be embedded in the green, damp vegetation. Performing ritualistic actions as attempts of connecting to something beside time and space or the neoliberalistic forces of modern society. In a position were change is per-forced, when former habits and ways are gone, irrelevant or needs to be redefined. When one finds herself in a situation of fluctuation or conceivable void what possible strategies is there to cope with what is? The videos were recorded in the area of Oyamazumi Shrine and Yayoi Village in Nishiaizu.
